Meet Hard Eddie – Intense’s first hard tail 29er, and it’s Carbon Fiber.  Just like all of Intense’s bikes, this bike had to be the best [riding] bike in its category.  Designed for the cross country rider that appreciates quality and does not want to be ‘just like everybody else on the trail’. The Hard Eddie is super light, weighing in at a tad over 1kg or 2lb 7oz, and it has the legendary ride quality that Intense’s Carbon Fiber is so well known for.  Hard Eddie comes with 135mm, 142mm and single speed dropout options. The ride quality comes from the refined Intense geometry and quality frame construction. Sticking to the successful formula used in the creation of the popular Carbine and Carbine SL, we used the design talents of Jeff Steber, and the Engineering skills of SEED Engineering to create another Carbon Fiber master piece.

Hard Eddie is available in 2 color options, Naked Red, and Naked. We offer a matching rigid carbon fork option. With 100mm fork Hard Eddie runs a 70 degree steering angle and 72 degree seat angle. The PF30 BB and integrated headset offers a great platform for a light rigid frame.

With the optional matching carbon fork, this bike can be built up to be a 18 lb race weapon, or a light weight street rocket.

The Uzzi has been our big travel ‘do it all’ bike for over 10 Years. And over the years it has evolved into a very well refined long travel ‘all mountain’ bike. Just like the name suggests, the Uzzi is the weapon of choice for you to annihilate everything in your path. Rocks, drops, corners, rubble, stubble, roots, toaster sized boulders, what ever gets in your way. You will be victorious. And just like all VPP bikes, it pedals like a dream. To call it the ‘Swiss Army knife’ is an understatement. Highlights include the 65-66 steering angle suited for faster cornering and greater control, refined suspension travel characteristics to suit all riders, and a re-engineered rear end to increase lateral stiffness without compromising the compliant feel that gives the superior ride quality Intense is so well known for.

Finding Flow trailer – From a customer,

In November of 2010 I purchased a new 2010 Intense 951 frame for a downhill bike. From the beginning I can honestly say I was skeptical, the frame is beautiful and light but I had my doubts. First off everyone talks about headtubes being broken off on this frame, they don’t, period. Secondly I questioned the geometry, the leverage ratio of the linkages, and the wide Q factor needed for cranks. I did some research and wasn’t so sure about the frame when I got it. I got it built up with a Rockshox Boxxer WC and raced it during the 2011 season. The bike treated me really well and I qualified for nationals at Beech mountain and I went and raced. I had a terrible race in the mud and dislocated my shoulder so it was a poor way to end the season to say the least. Soon after though I was approached by some friends to film a part in a video they were producing. They needed me to hit a road gap that no one else would. I had it in my head that I wouldn’t hit it when I saw it in person but my friend and I played rock, paper, scissors, loser guinea pigged it. I lost and gave myself a good pep talk and dropped in. It was a road gap across an old logging road in NC that was 18 feet down and about 46 feet out. I cased it by about four feet… To my surprise when I woke up my headtube was still attached and the bike was in one peace. Upon further disassembly of the bike a few days later I realized that I had cased the jump hard enough to flatten the threads out on the rear shock bolt. No other damage was done to the frame and it still rides like a beauty to this day. The segment has not been released yet but I would like to send you guys a copy of the movie when it comes out in March. I am writing this email to brag about how much this frame can handle and how good it feels on race course as well as in the air. You guys make amazing products and I wanted to tell you too keep up the good work and keep making them in America. Congrats on making the front page of Pinkbike with your factory tour too.

I finally got around to building his baby up 7 years later. I had built this frame years back during a little detour into the road market . The frame has been hanging on the wall behind my desk for the past 7 years collecting dust.The story, this past holiday season I was visited by my nephew Neal Harrod now residing in Portland Oregon. Neal is a talented young Architect and had taken a job with a prestigious architectural firm in the city. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree with Neal as he inherited some of the Steber creative gene.Portland is one of the few bike friendly cities in the U.S.and there has developed quite the sub culture crafting unique two wheeled works of art that are used as daily transportation as well as recreation.Long story short the frame caught Neal’s eye and during his visit we rummaged through the spare parts bins and built it up into sort of a Neo Townie rig. I am sure that Neal in true Portlandia style is cruising the streets of that wonderful city on this resurrected beauty , ride on!
